PNN: The Punjab Home Department has published a revised roster of outlawed organisations and unregistered charities, cautioning residents that extending financial or material support to such entities constitutes a punishable crime under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
In an official advisory, authorities called on citizens to exercise vigilance when giving zakat, alms, or other forms of charity, stressing that contributions to unregistered or proscribed outfits could lead to serious legal consequences. Any individual found aiding groups linked to terrorism or activities against the state will face strict action under the law.
The department reiterated that all welfare and charitable bodies functioning in Punjab must be formally registered with the Punjab Charity Commission. Donors were advised to verify an organisation’s legitimacy before making contributions, including checking QR codes printed on official registration certificates.
Among the banned organisations listed are Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Al-Qaeda, Balochistan Liberation Army, Islamic State, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation.
Officials noted that the full catalogue of prohibited groups is accessible through the official websites of the Punjab Home Department and the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Residents have also been encouraged to promptly inform law enforcement agencies about any suspicious, fraudulent, or extremist-linked fundraising efforts to ensure charitable donations reach legitimate and deserving beneficiaries rather than unlawful networks.
