Punjab issues strict Eid security plan across province

PNN: The Punjab Home Department has issued comprehensive security directives to ensure public safety during Eidul Fitr celebrations across the province.

According to a circular, a three-tier security system will be implemented at all places of worship, with strict monitoring, deployment of additional personnel, and the use of a single main entrance at each site.

Special security posts with officers in protective gear will be set up at key, while lady police personnel will be deployed to assist female worshippers. Walk-through gates, CCTV cameras, and metal detectors will be used for thorough screening, and parking will be arranged at a safe distance.

The directives also call for combing operations around mosques and imambaras, with heightened vigilance at hotels, restaurants, Eid bazaars, and other public places.

Authorities have been instructed to coordinate with religious leaders to maintain harmony and take action against hate speech or misuse of loudspeakers. Monitoring of beggars and strict supervision of banned individuals have also been ordered, alongside a province-wide ban on public display of firearms.

Security checkpoints will be established at city entry points and interprovincial routes, while traffic management plans will be enforced near worship sites.

Emergency services, including Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and the Health Department, have been directed to remain on high alert.

District administrations have been asked to share security plans with the Home Department and ensure coordination by linking local control rooms with the central monitoring system for effective implementation.
