Punjab private medical colleges seek extension to fill vacant MBBS seats

PNN: Principals of private medical colleges across Punjab have approached authorities to push the deadline for filling remaining MBBS seats to February 28, citing a number of vacancies still unfilled after the earlier February 13 closing date.

The request was discussed during a consultative meeting held at the University of Health Sciences, chaired by Ahsan Waheed Rathore. Representatives reviewed the latest admission figures and addressed concerns raised by applicants regarding seat allocation and fee policies.

Participants agreed that students opting to withdraw their admission by March 31 would be entitled to a complete refund of their fees. The session also focused on resolving gaps in seat distribution to ensure all available slots are filled in a timely and transparent manner.

It was decided that a formal summary would be submitted to the Provincial Admission Committee seeking approval for the proposed extension. If accepted, colleges will conduct admissions from February 24 to February 28, with officials making it clear that no additional extension will be requested beyond this timeframe.

Clear guidelines were also outlined for transfers and refunds. Students planning to transfer must secure a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their current institution, and colleges have been directed to issue these certificates without delay until February 24. Those choosing to withdraw completely will receive full fee reimbursement to safeguard fairness in the process.

The proposed extension is in line with the updated admissions calendar issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, ensuring that the enrollment process remains compliant with regulatory requirements while facilitating the completion of MBBS admissions throughout Punjab.
