ISLAMABAD – State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmed is drawing a salary of Rs4 million per month, it was told to the National Assembly.
The salary is Rs1.5 million more than the drawn by Ahmed’s predecessor Reza Baqir, who received Rs2.5 per month.
This information was provided by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb in a written response to a question from MNA Tahira Aurangzeb. Jameel Ahmed was appointed as SBP governor on August 26, 2022.
In addition to the salary, the governor enjoys several other perks and privileges, including a house rent allowance, and expenses for the maintenance and furnishing of the residence.
The governor is also allotted two cars with drivers and 1,200 liters of fuel monthly. One of the cars is 1600cc and the other is 1800cc.
The governor is allowed to have four employees, each with a salary of Rs18,000. The central also pays the bills for electricity, gas, water, entertainment, and mobile services.
Additionally, 75% of the educational expenses for the governor’s children are also paid by SBP.
The other benefits include full medical coverage, air tickets, club membership, and security expenses.
