Shahbaz Sharif welcomes Iran’s announcement of readiness to help ease tensions between Pakistan and India

PNN – Referring to the phone call between the leaders of Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office announced that Shahbaz Sharif, by renewing his official invitation to Masoud Pezishkiyan to travel to Islamabad, welcomed Tehran’s announcement of readiness to help defuse tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from the Public Relations Office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezishkiyan, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif expressed the condolences and solidarity of the people and government of Pakistan with the people and government of Iran following the tragic explosion in Shahid Rajaee Port.

The statement from the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office said: Shehbaz Sharif, while expressing solidarity with the families of the victims and praying for the recovery of the injured, said that Pakistan stands with the brotherly nation of Iran in these difficult moments and will provide all possible assistance.

The leaders of Pakistan and Iran exchanged views on the latest regional developments in the phone call. The Pakistani Prime Minister explained his country’s position on India’s actions after the Pahalgam incident, saying that Islamabad wants peace in the region, and if the Islamic Republic of Iran also wants to play a role in this regard, we welcome it.

He stated: Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and this country has no connection, either directly or indirectly, with the recent attack in India.

Shahbaz Sharif, while announcing Pakistan’s readiness to join a transparent and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, added: Pakistan itself has been one of the biggest victims of terrorism in the past two decades, in which thousands of people have lost their lives and billions of dollars have been spent.

Referring to India’s decision on a joint water treaty with Pakistan, he said that using water as a weapon is unacceptable and Pakistan will defend its rights at any cost.

A statement from the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office said: The Iranian President thanked the Prime Minister for his message of solidarity regarding the Shahid Rajaee Port incident and praised Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.

Pezishhkiyan invited Shahbaz Sharif to visit Tehran, and in return, the Pakistani Prime Minister renewed his invitation to the Islamic President of Iran to visit Islamabad.
