PNN – Emphasizing the importance of using the capacity of the transport corridor between Iran-Pakistan-Türkiye (ITI) to advance the common goals of the D-8 group, the Prime Minister of Pakistan said: This corridor can help to achieve the common goals of eight countries in the field of regional communication.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Pakistan National Television, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, speaking at the 11th Summit of the Organization of Eight Developing Countries known as D-8 in Cairo, expressed concern about the escalation of Israeli violence against Gaza and the situation in the Middle East and stressed that stopping the Israeli genocidal machine in the region and immediately establishing a ceasefire in Gaza is inevitable for peace and stability in the region and global security.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to achieve the common goals and interests of the D-8 members and said: Empowering the youth in the region surrounding the G8 member countries is important and Pakistan supports all joint initiatives to create job opportunities for the youth.
Citing the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul transport corridor known as ITI under the umbrella of the Economic Cooperation Organization, he added that using the capacity of this corridor can help achieve the common goals of the D-8 group in the field of regional communication.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan announced the cabinet’s action in approving the preferential trade agreement bill with the D-8 member countries and said: Continuous support to small and medium economic enterprises for the prosperity and development of our communities must continue without any interruption.
The group of countries known as D8 is actually a subsidiary organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
So far, this group has held 10 summits in Turkey, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey and once again in Bangladesh.
The total population of these eight countries is about 1.2 billion or 60% of the total Muslim population, as well as nearly 13% of the total world population, and the total area of the eight countries covers an area of 7.6 million square kilometers or 5% of the total world area.
