The Kazakhstan President Tokayev arrives in Pakistan.

PNN: Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for his first state visit.

He arrived at Nur Khan Airbase and was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Kazakhstan President was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet ministers and other officials.

He is expected to hold high-level meetings with senior government officials and also expected to address the Pakistan–Kazakhstan Business Forum.

The Foreign Office had previously said that the visit will provide the two sides an “important and timely opportunity to undertake a comprehensive review of bilateral relations”, discuss new avenues for broadening cooperation, particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and explore collaboration at regional and international forums.

The FO had said the visit reflected the strengthening bonds between the two countries, their mutual commitment to transforming historic and cultural affinities into robust cooperation, and their common desire for peace and progress in the region.
