PNN – On February 5th, the people of Pakistan in the capital Islamabad and other cities of this country, while celebrating the national day of solidarity with the people of Kashmir, also held marches with the presence of senior government, political and religious officials in support of Kashmiri Muslims.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, India and Pakistan have had serious differences with each other over the ownership of the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir for more than seven decades and have gone to war three times. These two nuclear neighbors have experienced the lowest level of relations since the last 6 years, the main reason for which is the intensification of disputes over Kashmir.
The day of solidarity with the people of Kashmir is being held in Pakistan this year while the situation on the Pakistan-India border has remained calm for the past four years and the two countries have avoided any clashes and exchange of fire after renewing their agreement to follow the border ceasefire agreement in February 2021.
It should be noted that in the late 1980s, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, under the leadership of Qazi Hussain Ahmed, the late president of this party, established the day of solidarity with the people of Kashmir for the first time.
At the same time as the national day of solidarity with the people of Kashmir arrived, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif went to Muzaffarabad, the center of the Kashmir region (under the control of the Islamabad government) and by issuing a message, he called on the international community to conduct detailed investigations into what he called human rights violations in Indian-controlled Kashmir, and to implement the UN Security Council resolutions on the Kashmir issue.
According to the United Nations Security Council resolution that was approved in 1948, the people of Kashmir should have the right to choose and the right to self-determination and decide for themselves decide their own fate. Pakistan also always emphasizes that it wants to hold free elections in the Kashmir region and the people of Kashmir should choose themselves whether they want to be under be in the shadow of India or Pakistan.
The message of the Prime Minister of Pakistan also states: Pakistan strongly condemns the oppression of defenseless people in Kashmir. The dream of peace in South Asia will never be realized without solving the Kashmir issue.
The main march of solidarity with Kashmir was held in front of the country’s parliament in Islamabad with the presence of high-ranking Pakistani officials, presidents of the Senate and National Assembly, ministers, political and religious leaders.
Pakistani officials announced to the marchers that the government and people of this country once again declare their spiritual, diplomatic and political support to the people of Kashmir.
Public relations of the Pakistani army also issued a statement today while announcing the support of the commanders of the armed forces to the people of Kashmir and announced that the world should be aware of its responsibility for the immediate resolution of the Kashmir conflict and the protection of the rights of its Muslim people.
After the independence of Pakistan on August 14, 1947, it was decided that all the Muslim-populated areas of Kashmir should be considered part of the country’s territory, but the Maharaja (King) of Kashmir declared that the Muslim-populated Kashmir is part of Indian territory.
The Maharaja initially wanted an independent state in Kashmir, but the people of the region demanded joining Pakistan or a Muslim-dominated state.
