When is next rain spell expected in Karachi?

KARACHI: The city has once again witnessed an uptick in temperature following last week’s wet spell, with hot and humid conditions prevailing across the metropolis.

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh forecast predicting further rain in parts of Sindh, including Karachi, over the coming days.

According to PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazeer, monsoon winds have begun entering the southeastern regions of Sindh, triggering chances of rainfall in several districts. Areas such as Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Mithi, and adjoining localities are expected to receive rain from July 2 (today) to July 5.

For Karachi, the forecast indicates mainly cloudy and humid weather, accompanied by the possibility of light rain or drizzle during this period. The PMD has further said that moderate rainfall is likely in the metropolis between July 8 and 11, as the monsoon system advances.

The residents are advised to remain alert and follow official weather updates, particularly in areas prone to waterlogging and traffic disruptions during downpours. Authorities may issue further advisories as conditions evolve.

The recent rainfall brought a brief respite from the hot weather, lowering temperatures temporarily. However, since the conclusion of the rain spell on Sunday, the city has experienced a return of high temperatures and elevated humidity.
