Elon Musk rings in US Election Day with new feature for X?

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has actively participated in the United States’ presidential election this year, decided to surprise users of his social media platform X with an interactive new feature to commemorate Election Day.

As many Americans headed to the polls on Tuesday, users of the X noticed that the Tesla CEO had changed the “Like” button on the platform for the much-awaited US elections.

As a result of this new feature, whenever a user pressed the “Like” button on a post, it prompted a brief animation showing a white ballot sliding into a red and blue ballot box.

The feature quickly went viral after a user pointed it out in a post accompanied by an election-related meme.

Musk, 53, has been a vocal supporter of former US president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, appearing at his rallies and even starting a $1 million giveaway for those who sign his petition pledging to support free speech and gun rights.

He has already given away millions to registered swing state voters who qualified for his giveaway by signing his political petition.

His political action committee (PAC) group, America PAC, announced a winner from Arizona on Monday and said that the final winner, from Michigan, will be announced on Election Day on Tuesday.

An X user commented: “Interesting move by Elon Musk, changing the like button for the US Elections — wonder what impact this will have on voter engagement and social media discourse!”

Strangely, the feature became unavailable after a few minutes.
