Mark Zuckerberg ups ante with Elon Musk’s X through Threads

As the increasing competition in the global technology realm continues to force tech giants to roll out new features to stay a step ahead of rivals, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has tasked their engineers to make their new social media platform Threads, also known as ‘Twitter Killer’, more user-engaging.

Threads was launched by Meta to compete with Elon Musk’s platform X — formerly called Twitter — after the tech billionaire carried out controversial changes that discouraged users.

Those measures also included charging fees for verified blue checkmarks — a sign of verified information which was threatened by the move.

Facebook’s parent company announced that it is incorporating a new tab “Trending Now” in one of the sections in Thread.

On X, we can see the trending topics by clicking on the search bar and below we will find the leading topic of discussion. Thread’s view of the section is somewhat similar to X.

If you have seen the Trending section of X, Threads’ implementation is somewhat similar.

The feature was first tested by Meta on in February as the company noted that the topics would be shown as per the algorithm and people’s engagement not personalised.

The content experts of the company also ensure the community guidelines are not violated by the trending topics. One can easily report to a particular topic if it violates the guidelines of Meta.

However, this feature of Threads is only in US for now.

The features on Threads increased gradually as the search bar earlier provided only function to search for user accounts.

Threads last week also released a desktop application Windows.
