2.75-billion-dollar fraud in the field of treatment in America / 193 people were prosecuted

PNN – The US Department of Justice has announced that it has prosecuted 193 people for their involvement in a $2.75 billion healthcare fraud.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoting Reuters, 76 doctors, nurses and other members of the medical staff are among the people against whom a criminal case has been filed.

Some of these individuals are accused of multiple counts, including the illegal distribution of millions of Adderall pills and the improper prescription of alcohol and drug abuse medications. Adderall is commonly prescribed to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder).

America’s Justice Secretary Merrick Garland said in a news conference: This department will bring offenders who defrauded Americans and stole money from programs funded by taxpayers and put people in danger for their own benefit to justice.

In this case, the US government has confiscated more than 231 million dollars in cash, luxury cars, gold and other valuable assets from the offenders.

The anti-fraud unit in the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, the Special Inspector General of Human Services, the FBI and the US Drug Administration are the institutions that have played a role in filing this case.
