4 conditions for the Shin Bet chief to resign from his position.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, the Israeli Channel 14 television reported that Ronen Bar, the head of the regime’s internal security agency (Shabak), has set conditions for resigning from his position.
According to the report, the conditions announced are as follows: forming a government investigation committee, returning all Israeli prisoners from Gaza, appointing one of the deputy heads of the Shabak as his successor, and preventing the appointment of someone outside the organization as head of the Shabak.
In this regard, last night, on the sidelines of presenting the results of the investigation into Operation Storm Al-Aqsa, which he submitted after several weeks of wrangling with Benjamin Netanyahu, Bar pointed to those responsible for this failure and said: “I have taken responsibility and intend to fulfill my promise, but the timing of this work is very important.”
He added in this regard: “I am not satisfied with the return of only 197 prisoners and I will wait for the return of the remaining 59.”
Speaking to Shin Bet employees, Bar added that he intends not to step down from his position until he is certain that a formal fact-finding committee has been formed.
Hebrew media outlets have reported an escalating crisis of distrust between the Israeli prime minister and the Shin Bet chief, with reports suggesting that Benjamin Netanyahu may dismiss Ronen Bar.
The Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the differences between the two sides have intensified and that Netanyahu may face opposition and legal challenges from the government’s legal advisor if he moves to dismiss the Shin Bet chief.
Hebrew-language Channel 13 also reported that Netanyahu’s close associates have launched a series of attacks on the Shin Bet chief, especially after reports emerged about the investigation into the October 7 events. According to sources close to Netanyahu, the Shin Bet chief has failed to provide convincing answers and has completely failed to handle the threats from Hamas and the events of October 7.
