51 Iraqi MPs oppose Golani’s presence in Baghdad

PNN – Iraqi MP Ibtisam al-Hilali announced that 51 members of the country’s parliament opposed Golani’s visit to the country.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Al-Hilali said in an interview with Shafaq News: A number of members of parliament are opposed to the presence of “Ahmad al-Sharaa”, known as “Abu Muhammad al-Julani”, the head of the interim Syrian government, at the Arab League summit in Baghdad, and they see the reason for this opposition as the crimes committed by terrorist groups in Iraq, of which al-Sharaa was a member.

He added: So far, 51 members of parliament have signed a petition opposing the presence of Al-Sharaa in Baghdad, and this petition will be delivered to the speaker of parliament to take the necessary measures.

Al-Hilali added: Instead of Golani, another figure such as Asad Al-Shaibani, Foreign Minister of the Syrian interim government, could participate in this meeting.

The issue of the trip to Baghdad of Ahmed al-Sharaa, known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the head of the Syrian interim government, had been met with strong reactions and protests from Iraqi groups and movements in recent days.

In the same context, Al-Ma’ulouma News Agency reported that the Iraqi people opposed Golani’s trip to Baghdad.

Al-Ma’ulouma News Agency reported in a report referring to the Iraqi government’s invitation to “Ahmad al-Sharaa”, known as “Abu Muhammad al-Julani”, the head of the interim Syrian government, to Baghdad to participate in the Arab summit, and reported the dissatisfaction of the Iraqi people and political activists due to the government of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani ignoring his terrorist activities.

In this regard, Qais Al-Khazali, Secretary General of the Iraqi Asaib Ahl Al-Haq movement, had previously said that the presence of the current head of the Syrian government, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in Iraq may lead to the implementation of the law and his arrest, because an arrest warrant has been issued against him by the Iraqi judiciary.

According to the Baghdad Al-Youm news agency, Al-Khazali emphasized that relations between the two brotherly countries, Iraq and Syria, are essential and include common interests, but at the same time, the presence of the head of the Syrian government council at this stage is “premature.”

Baghdad is preparing to host the Arab summit amid important Arab issues, especially the Israeli regime’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people, which has now entered its nineteenth month.
