PNN – The Hill website wrote in a report referring to Donald Trump’s economic approach in reducing the federal workforce and imposing tariff penalties against Washington’s economic partners: According to a CNN poll, 72% of Americans described the country’s economic situation as “bad.”
According to the report of Pakistan News Network from this American media outlet: In a CNN poll conducted from March 6 to 9 and released on Thursday, 51 percent of American respondents said that US President Donald Trump’s policies have made their country’s economic conditions “worse.”
The report added: Respondents in the survey were asked to assess the country’s current economic conditions; the result was the same assessment as in the January survey – shortly before Trump took office for a second time.

Thus, 72% of American citizens in both surveys said that conditions were “bad”, while only 28% described the US economic situation as “good”.
Hill further compared the survey results with a similar survey conducted in January on respondents’ expectations for the economy in the next year: In the new survey, 49 percent of respondents said they expect economic conditions to be good within a year, compared to 56 percent in the January survey who expected economic conditions to improve. Similarly, the proportion of Americans who expect the economy to weaken over the next year has increased to 51 percent, up seven percentage points from a poll two months ago when 44 percent said so.
The poll comes as Trump has decided to cut the federal budget and workforce, as well as impose heavy tariffs on Canada and Mexico, two of the United States’ largest trading partners.
When asked how federal budget cuts would affect “you and your family,” 51 percent of respondents said they would “be hurt.”
In another survey on Trump’s handling of helping the middle class, 57 percent disapproved and 43 percent approved, according to the poll. Also, 56 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s approach to combating inflation.
