A Democratic lawmaker has criticized America’s decision to veto the ceasefire resolution in Gaza.
In a statement, one of the American female Democratic representatives described the action of the Biden administration to veto the resolution related to the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza as “shameful”.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic representative of the US House of Representatives, while criticizing the positions of the Biden government during the Gaza war, described his government’s action of vetoing the UN Security Council resolution to establish a ceasefire during the war as “shameful”.
According to “Fox News”, Kurtz, as an active member of the so-called “Squad” group, which consists of six American Democratic representatives, expressed his position during the post related to the American veto action, on X social network.
In this regard, he said: The Biden government can no longer reconcile its alleged concerns about the Palestinians and the issue of human rights when it single-handedly vetoes the UN request for a cease-fire in Gaza and asks the US Congress to stop bombing civilians. Residents in the Gaza Strip should support unconditionally and without limits.
A US official responded to the statements of Alexandria Ocazia Cortes and stated: Despite a difficult process and lack of consultation by the authors of the resolution, the United States of America acted with good intentions in the form of the said resolution. Almost all the recommendations of the American government regarding the aforementioned resolution were ignored.
The desired statements were made when thirteen countries on Friday voted in favor of the request for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages during the conflict between the Zionist regime and Hamas. In the meantime, the American vote for this resolution was negative and the British vote also abstained.
“Robert Wood”, the deputy ambassador of the United States of America to the United Nations, claimed that he criticized the way this resolution was implemented and said that the said resolution strengthens Hamas to continue its action against the Zionist regime.
Before Kurtz’s criticism of the positions of the Biden government and his attack on his actions, US Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib and another member of the Squad group took this position against Biden and were condemned by members of Congress for his criticism of Biden.
