A Zionist general: Israel is facing unprecedented crises.
In an article published in the Hebrew newspaper Ma’ariv, Brik noted that this requires the urgent formulation of a comprehensive national strategy to ensure Israel’s survival and prosperity.
“The many threats and multiple fronts are placing a heavy burden on the security services, as they are forced to deal with the challenges facing Gaza and the northern region, the fear of escalating tensions in the West Bank, and the possibility of confrontation with Iran and its proxies,” he added.
In an article published by the Shahab news agency, Brik noted that Israel’s declining international standing and continued sanctions campaigns raise questions about its ability to operate on the international stage and create difficulties in maintaining vital strategic relationships.
The army chief believes that the decline in public trust in government institutions and decision-makers is leading to the collapse of national resilience, especially since polls show that most people believe that political decisions are made based on political rather than professional considerations.
“The cost of the war is enormous and requires tens of billions of shekels (Israeli currency) in the security budget, which has led to a growing deficit that threatens the economic sector in the coming years,” he added. This comes amid concerns about a slowdown in growth and a decline in foreign investment in the high-tech sector, a key driver of the economy.
Brik stressed that these figures, along with discussions about rising prices and the high cost of living that weigh on citizens, underscore the urgent need to develop a plan to address the economic crisis and cut unnecessary spending.
Regarding internal discord, he said: “Despite talk of social security and cohesion, political, social, and religious divisions in Israel remain deep and threaten national unity.” He noted that Israeli society urgently needs to recover from the post-war shock, which requires intensifying efforts to help the families of the “scarred”, the wounded, and those affected by the war.
He stressed that Israel’s survival depends on its ability to shift from an exclusive perspective in thought and decision-making to a pluralistic and inclusive one that acts on principles, redefines priorities, and prioritizes social resilience and national unity, alongside achieving military victory and economic stability.
