The presence of Israeli military personnel in the African Lion exercise is within the framework of the military and security agreement signed between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
Morocco and the Israeli regime signed an agreement to normalize relations in December 2020, mediated by the United States, and since then, military, security, economic, commercial, etc. Rabat-Tel Aviv cooperation has officially begun and developed.
The participation of the Israeli occupation army in the African Lion exercise is not new; the regime’s military participated as observers in this exercise, which was held in Morocco, in 2022. The following year, officers and troops of the Golani Brigade participated in the same exercise in Morocco.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Israeli soldiers have participated in military exercises in an Arab country.
According to the Quds News Agency, Israeli soldiers are practicing combat techniques in tunnels during the African Lion 2025 exercise in Morocco. These tunnels are similar to those built by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
The tunnel warfare exercise has raised the question for political and media observers: Why does the Moroccan army, as an Islamic-Arab country, need to practice tunnel warfare, and who is the supposed enemy of this army?
Israeli soldiers participating in the African Lion 2025 exercise will return to Gaza, and the Israeli army will use the training it conducted in this exercise in the Gaza war.
