After Hamas and Hezbollah, the US called for the disarmament of Iraqi resistance groups.

Deputy State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told reporters Tuesday night local time: Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani about efforts to finalize U.S. trade deals in Iraq.

The deputy State Department spokesman added: Rubio congratulated the Iraqi Prime Minister on the resumption of oil exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline, which will benefit Iraq, Turkey, and American companies.

In line with Washington’s interests and policies that call for the disarmament of resistance groups in Palestine and Lebanon, including Hamas and Hezbollah, in favor of the Israeli regime, while the Iraqi resistance groups are independent, the US State Department spokesperson repeated claims about Iran’s regional influence and these groups, calling for their disarmament, claiming: “Rubio emphasized the necessity of disarming Iran-backed militias; “The groups that undermine Iraqi sovereignty threaten the lives and interests of American and Iraqi citizens and plunder Iraqi resources for the benefit of Iran.”

He claimed: The Secretary of State emphasized the United States’ commitment to working closely with Iraqi partners to advance the common interests between Washington and Baghdad, including protecting Iraqi sovereignty, strengthening regional stability, and strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

In order to protect its interests in Iraq and ensure the security of the Israeli regime, the United States has repeatedly made claims against the Iraqi resistance and called for the disarmament of these groups.

In the occupied Palestinian territories, and despite the Gaza ceasefire agreement and its repeated violations by Israel, Washington has called for the disarmament of Hamas in order to end the devastating war in Gaza, and in Lebanon, it has also called for the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon and for Beirut to move on the path of reconciliation with Israel. The government of Joseph Aoun in Lebanon has been criticized and threatened by Tel Aviv and Western experts for not accepting Washington’s and the Israeli regime’s request for the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The US Secretary of State’s remarks come as Iraq’s National Security Advisor traveled to Tehran and met with senior Iranian officials on Monday and Tuesday.
