Agreement between Washington and Islamabad to deal with the threats of ISIS and Pakistani Taliban

PNN – At the end of the comprehensive anti-terrorism talks, Pakistan and the United States called ISIS Khorasan and Pakistani Taliban the most important security challenges for the region and the world and agreed to jointly deal with threats from these terrorist organizations.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, from the public relations office of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, the joint statement of the United States of America and Pakistan was issued at the end of the talks between the top officials of the two countries with the agenda of combating terrorism. These talks were held in Washington.

It is stated in this statement: Seyed Haider Shah, the deputy of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, headed the delegation of this country, while the American delegation was headed by Elizabeth Richard, the coordinator of the US Department of State in the fight against terrorism.

Anti-terrorism consultations in Islamabad and Washington emphasized the cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in addressing the most important regional and global security challenges, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Daesh Khorasan. These talks focused on the prospects of fighting terrorism in the region, focusing on areas of mutual interest.

Pakistan and the United States acknowledge that cooperation to deal with Daesh Khorasan, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other terrorist organizations will improve security in the region, and act as what is called a model of bilateral and regional cooperation in the aforementioned statement to deal with the threats of transnational terrorism.

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan stated: Both governments are determined to increase communication and continue cooperation to detect and prevent violent extremism and strengthen the anti-terrorism dialogue process to contribute to regional and global security and stability.

Before the negotiations in Washington, General Michael Eric Korilla, the commander of the United States military forces in the Middle East (CENTCOM) visited Pakistan with General Syed Asim Munir, the commander of the country’s army, and the two sides discussed the security situation in the region and bilateral military cooperation.
