Agreement signed for US access to Ukraine’s rare mineral resources.
Al Jazeera Qatar reported that the US Treasury Department announced that Washington and Kiev have signed an agreement to establish a joint investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
According to the US Department, the agreement is a clear message to Moscow that the Trump administration is committed to advancing the peace process to achieve a free and sovereign Ukraine.
In this regard, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced that the United States and Ukraine have signed an agreement to establish a joint fund for the reconstruction of the country.
She added that the fund will be created in cooperation with Washington and is aimed at attracting global investments to Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian Economy Minister, according to the provisions of the agreement, full ownership and control of all natural resources on the soil and waters of Ukraine will remain in the hands of Kiev.
He emphasized that only the Ukrainian government decides what resources will be extracted and in which region, and this is clearly stated in the agreement.
He also explained that the fund structure is designed on a 50/50 model and will be managed jointly by Kyiv and Washington.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that the agreement includes concessions for the United States in terms of access to Ukrainian natural resources and the development of new investment projects in this area.
According to Bloomberg, the natural resources mentioned in the agreement include aluminum, graphite, oil and natural gas.
Also, an hour ago, the American news site Axios quoted the Ukrainian Deputy Economy Minister as saying that Kyiv expects to sign a mining cooperation agreement with Washington today, after overcoming last-minute obstacles.
