Al-Akhbar: Ayatollah Sistani opposed the dissolution of “Al-Hashd al-Shaabi”.

PNN – The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that some parties demanded the dissolution of Al-Hashd al-Shaabi of Iraq by Ayatollah Sistani by issuing a fatwa, but this supreme authority of Shiites in Najaf Ashraf has opposed this.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Al-Akhbar newspaper quoted an unnamed Iraqi source as saying: The Iraqi government has received several requests from international and regional parties to dissolve Al-Hashd al-Shaabi and hand over the weapons of Iraqi groups (resistance groups) to the government.

A second Iraqi source also spoke to Al-Akhbar, referring to the two trips of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraqi Affairs, Mohammad Al-Hassan, to Najaf Ashraf to meet with Ayatollah Sistani: The purpose of Mohammad al-Hassan, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Iraqi Affairs, in his second meeting with Ayatollah Sistani was to request the issuance of a fatwa by him regarding the separation and dissolution of Hashd al-Shaabi or its merger with other security ministries, because this organization was formed by Ayatollah Sistani’s fatwa. However, the Supreme Shia authority in Najaf Ashraf refused to welcome the representative of the UN Secretary General.

The first Iraqi source, which is close to the Iraqi government, stated in an interview with Al-Akhbar: The issue of disbanding Al-Hashd al-Shaabi is a Western desire and desire, this is not a new issue and it is especially raised by the United States, which always expresses dissatisfaction with Iraqi groups (resistance groups).

The second Iraqi source also said: Ayatollah Sistani welcomed Mohammad al-Hassan in his first visit. In this meeting, opinions were exchanged regarding the situation in the region and Iraq’s interests, and in the second meeting, which was held a few days ago and almost a month later by the UN Special Representative for Iraqi Affairs, Ayatollah Sistani did not accept the representative of the UN Secretary General to attend. Rather, he sent his son Seyyed Mohammad Reza to welcome him. This issue shows that the UN representative requested Ayatollah Sistani to dissolve Al-Hashd al-Shaabi in the first meeting, and the failure to welcome Ayatollah Sistani in the second meeting with Al-Hassan means that he opposes this.

Al-Hashd al-Shaabi was formed following the attack of the ISIS terrorist group and the fall of several Iraqi provinces in (2014), with the fatwa of Jihad Kafai, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani, the Supreme Marjah of Shia Iraq; The forces that, by following religious authority and popular unity and solidarity, were able to achieve great victories in a relentless battle of three and a half years and complete the work of this dreaded terrorist group.
