Al-Akhbar: Dispute over international forces in Gaza/Cairo opposes Israeli military presence.
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported in an article about Gaza: The Egyptian government has stated that the condition for participating in the international force in Gaza is an international agreement in this regard, that the missions and powers of this international force are clear and transparent, and that it completely opposes the presence of Israeli soldiers alongside these forces.
An Egyptian source told Al-Akhbar: Cairo has opposed participating in an international force that aims to destroy the infrastructure of the Palestinian resistance or engage in conflict with it on behalf of the occupiers.
The source stated: Some countries such as Indonesia and Turkey have announced their readiness to participate in this international force on the condition of clear guarantees and avoiding any confrontation with Israeli forces.
Al-Akhbar continued by referring to the high-ranking meeting between Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv: Egyptian sources considered this meeting to be in light of US pressure on the relevant parties, especially Cairo, to strengthen coordination with Tel Aviv regarding the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire.
Cairo, Washington, and Tel Aviv Disagreement over International Forces
The media outlet wrote: Israeli media outlets are reporting fundamental disagreements between Washington, Tel Aviv, and Cairo. While Egypt wants foreign forces to enter Gaza to find the bodies of Israeli prisoners, Tel Aviv believes that Hamas has the ability to return the bodies without the need for foreign help, but is stalling for time. Israel also insists on returning all the bodies of the prisoners before entering the second phase of the agreement.
According to IRNA, the Hamas movement issued a statement on Thursday, October 17, officially announcing the achievement of an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners.
The Israeli army also officially announced the implementation of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon, October 18, 1404, and announced: According to the agreement, Israeli forces will remain stationed in certain areas of the Gaza Strip, and travel from the south to the north of the Gaza Strip will be permitted via Al-Rashid Street and Salahuddin Road.
This is while the Zionist regime continues to obstruct the implementation of the provisions of the first phase of the ceasefire and its repeated violations.
