Al Jazeera’s broadcast halted in Palestine; Hamas condemns PA decision.
According to the Palestinian Wafa News Agency, affiliated with the Palestinian Authority, the Palestinian government has recently decided to stop the broadcast of Al Jazeera and close the network’s office in Palestine.
According to the report, a committee consisting of the Palestinian ministers of culture, interior, and communications made this decision.
The Wafa report claims that this decision was made to stop the activities of Al Jazeera in the region due to the broadcast of provocative content, false news, and the creation of division and interference in the internal affairs of Palestine.
According to the report, this decision will be implemented temporarily until Al Jazeera complies with Palestinian laws and regulations.
Palestinian Resistance Committees: The closure of Al Jazeera is in line with the policies of the Zionist regime
In an official statement, the Palestinian Resistance Committees strongly condemned the recent move by the Palestinian Authority to stop the broadcast and activities of the Al Jazeera satellite network and close the network’s office in the Palestinian territories.
Emphasizing that this decision is contrary to freedom of expression and the principles of democracy, these committees considered it an unjust act and a clear violation of the Palestinian constitution.
The Palestinian Resistance Committees also assessed this decision as in line with the policies of the Zionist regime in suppressing the freedom of the media and journalists and described it as an act coordinated with the Zionist enemy.
At the end of the statement, the Palestinian Resistance Committees called on the PA authorities to immediately reverse this illegal decision that is contrary to the national interests of Palestine.
Hamas condemned the closure of Al Jazeera by the Palestinian Authority
Hamas also announced in response to the closure of Al Jazeera by the Palestinian Authority: We condemn the decision of the Palestinian Authority authorities to stop the broadcasting of Al Jazeera in Palestine. This action is a clear violation of media freedom and a repressive behavior aimed at limiting freedom of expression.
Hamas announced that the decision to stop Al Jazeera’s broadcasts is illegal and was taken in a sensitive situation where the need to highlight the crimes of the Zionist regime is felt more than ever.
Al Jazeera condemned the PA’s decision
The Al Jazeera news network issued an official statement and strongly condemned the recent move by the Palestinian Authority to close the network’s office in the West Bank. Al Jazeera considered this decision to be a move in line with the Zionist regime’s policies to suppress media freedom.
The statement stated that the PA’s decision was taken following a campaign of intimidation and threats against Al Jazeera journalists and following a similar move by the Zionist regime to close the network’s office in Ramallah. This decision aims to cover up the crimes of the Zionist regime and suppress the Palestinian resistance, especially in areas such as Jenin.
Al Jazeera emphasized that this decision was taken in a situation where Palestinian journalists are facing life threats and the Zionist regime is directly attacking journalists. The network also held the PA responsible for the complete safety of its employees and called for the immediate reversal of this decision.
Al Jazeera concluded by stressing that it would continue to professionally cover Palestinian events and that this decision would never prevent the network from carrying out its news mission.
The PA’s action is a shameful attack on media freedom
The Palestinian Journalists’ Support Center also reacted to the PA’s closure of Al Jazeera’s office, calling it a shameful attack on media freedom.
In an official statement, the center condemned the PA’s decision to suspend Al Jazeera’s operations in the West Bank, calling it a severe blow to press freedom and independent news coverage in Palestine.
The group’s statement said that this decision was taken in line with the efforts of some to suppress press freedom and prevent media coverage of Palestinian events from the perspective of the people of the land.
