Al-Mayadeen: Cairo is moving towards a conflict it has avoided for years

Cairo

PNN – Media sources reported that the recent aggressions by the Israeli regime, especially the attack on Doha, have exacerbated tensions between Tel Aviv and Cairo.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Mayadeen, the website of the Emirati publication National reported, citing informed sources, that Egypt asked the United States to guarantee that Tel Aviv would not attack Hamas leaders again.

The report states that the tone of Egypt’s official stances against the Zionist regime has changed in recent times, with Cairo using the term “genocide” in response to the Gaza war. The current tension between the two sides has intensified in less than a month, especially in light of the rise of the illusion of a “Greater Israel.”

Middle East Eye also reported the deployment of 40,000 Egyptian troops in northern Sinai and near the borders of occupied Palestine, a move that angered Tel Aviv.

Al-Akhbar newspaper also reported, citing Egyptian sources, that Cairo has warned Washington against carrying out any terror operations on Egyptian soil.

Al-Mayadeen wrote: After Tel Aviv’s attack on Doha, Egyptian users reposted the country’s president’s 2015 remarks about forming a joint Arab power to face security challenges. It seems that Egypt is moving towards a conflict that it has been avoiding for years, in the shadow of the Zionist regime’s aggression, especially the invasion of Rafah, the occupation of the Philadelphia axis, and the violation of the Camp David Accords.
