Sky News quoted Volodymyr Zelensky as saying that these security guarantees aimed to “create a truly sustainable peace, provided that the US succeeds in pressuring Russia to stop the killing and engage in real and substantive diplomacy.”
Zelensky added that the two leaders also discussed investing in Ukrainian drone production.
Meanwhile, Downing Street said Keir Starmer and Zelensky discussed yesterday’s meetings with European and US leaders.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said: “They agreed that there was a strong sense of unity and determination to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
Zelensky and Starmer went on to discuss the upcoming talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, calling it a good opportunity to make progress, “provided that the Russian president demonstrates his seriousness about peace.”
