PNN – The Algerian Foreign Ministry summoned the French ambassador to the country and protested against the military maneuvers that it is planning to hold jointly with Morocco, describing them as provocative.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the official Algerian news agency, Lunas Moqraman, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, summoned Stéphane Romatet, the French ambassador to the country, to the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry.
In a statement, the Algerian Foreign Ministry stated that the purpose of this action was to inform the French diplomat about the dangers of the joint French-Moroccan military exercise, which is scheduled to be held next September in the “Rachidia” region near the Algerian border under the title “East 2025”, and carries many messages.
The Secretary General of the Algerian Foreign Ministry emphasized that his country considers this maneuver a provocative act against it, and at the current time, such actions make Algerian-French relations more critical.
He also asked the French ambassador to provide the necessary explanations in this regard and to convey Algeria’s position to his country’s authorities in the form that was communicated to him.
The Algerian parliament recently announced in a statement that it had decided to immediately suspend all relations with the French Senate, including the parliamentary cooperation protocol signed between the two chambers in 2015.
The move followed a visit by Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, to Lyon, the main city in Morocco’s Western Sahara region.
