Along with the war against Islam, we are witnessing a war against the family system.
Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of Iran, addressed the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
The President delivered his speech at the 78th UN General Assembly the complete text is given below.
In the name of God,
I express my sincere congratulations on your election as the president of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Since last year, the world has witnessed significant and diverse changes, both positive and challenging. It’s remarkable that nearly eighty years have passed since the establishment of the United Nations, and the new session of the General Assembly commences amidst unprecedented transformations in history.
In such times, the key to a prosperous future for humanity lies in embracing high moral values that guide individuals toward excellence and dignity. What better source than the word of God to define and elevate human values?
Ladies and gentlemen,
The Quran, as the divine word, serves as a beacon for rationality, spirituality, justice, morality, and truth. It upholds three fundamental pillars: monotheism, justice, and human dignity, which are essential for human happiness. But why does the Quran provoke hatred among the powerful and wealthy?
The Quran calls upon mankind to reject oppression and division. By following this guidance, we can construct a world marked by dignity and greatness. It emphasizes the unity of humanity, reminding us that all inhabitants of the earth are like brothers and sisters, sharing common ancestry. The Quran regards human beings as God’s representatives, asserting that men and women, despite natural differences, complement each other and stand as equals in God’s presence. It safeguards family privacy and recognizes children as entrusted by God.
Faithfulness to covenants, truthfulness, honesty in dealings, and the commitment to serve the disadvantaged while combatting poverty, prostitution, and injustice—these are the noble teachings of the Quran.
Have those who burn the Quran and seek to silence its message not learned from history? Did Nimrod, Pharaoh, and Qaron prevail over Abraham, Moses, and Jesus?
The Quran prohibits the insult of ideas and beliefs, showing respect for Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all).
“And when Moses and Jesus and the Prophets came from their Lord, there was no difference between any of them, and we are Muslims to Him.” (Holy Quran, Surah Al-Imran, verse 84)
These unifying and sublime concepts, delivered by prophets, remain eternal and will never be extinguished. The flames of insult and distortion can never extinguish the light of truth.
Distinguished leaders,
Anti-Islamism and cultural apartheid, in various forms, such as burning the Holy Quran or banning the hijab in schools, are incompatible with the progress of contemporary society. Behind these acts of hatred lies a broader agenda, and reducing them to matters of freedom of speech is misleading. The West, currently grappling with identity and functional crises, perceives the world as a forest while viewing itself as a beautiful garden. Sinister yet influential forces seek to exacerbate crises and create enemies, with the Muslim community and immigrants often targeted, even though they are themselves victims of colonial policies.
We, like all believers and advocates of freedom, believe that respecting divine religions should be a fundamental aspect of the international agenda. The United Nations must establish mechanisms to ensure the respect of divine religions.
Furthermore, alongside the war against Islam, we are witnessing a war against the family. The family represents the most authentic, enduring, fundamental, and natural human institution, which is under threat today.
Today, crimes against humanity are not limited to land occupation, the killing of innocents, and the colonization of nations. The assault on the family, the natural and fundamental refuge of humanity, is also a crime against humanity. Safeguarding the sanctity of the family and the institution of marriage, formed by the union of a man and a woman, is a global imperative that must be placed high on the global agenda. Education, development, and human progress are unattainable without upholding family values. Misguided narratives regarding marriage and gender aim to eliminate essential concepts such as mother, father, and the traditional family, actions that can be seen as crimes against humanity and threaten the survival of the human race. It is our collective human duty to combat such destructive ideologies. Today, we need a global movement dedicated to preserving the sanctity of the family so that all family members can enjoy a harmonious life together.
We call upon leaders of nations and divine religions to fulfill their historic responsibilities by supporting the foundational concept of the family and confronting false narratives. We expect the United Nations to prioritize the respect and protection of the sacred institution of the family.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We find ourselves in a crucial and transformative period of history. The world is in the midst of a transition towards a new international order, and this path is irreversible.
