America falls in ranking of happiest countries in the world

PNN – According to the 2025 World Happiness Report, the United States fell several places to rank 24th among the happiest countries in the world.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, according to the 2025 World Happiness Report released on Thursday, Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for the eighth consecutive year.

Other Nordic countries also topped the happiness rankings once again in this annual report published by the Oxford University Well-being Research Centre.

In addition to Finland, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden continue to rank among the happiest countries in the world.

The country rankings are based on the responses people give when assessing their lives. The study was conducted in partnership with the analytical company Gallup and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

Researchers say that beyond health and wealth, some factors that influence happiness are very simple, such as sharing meals with others, having someone for social support, and family size.

For example, in Mexico and Europe, a family size of four to five people ensures the highest level of happiness.

According to the latest findings, belief in the kindness of others is also much more strongly linked to happiness than previously thought.

For example, the report shows that the number of people who believe others would be willing to return their lost wallet is an indicator of the overall happiness of a population.

While European countries are in the top 20 for happiness, there are some exceptions.

Costa Rica and Mexico entered the top 10 happiest countries for the first time, ranking 6th and 10th, respectively.

But in terms of decreasing happiness or increasing unhappiness, America has fallen to its lowest position in its history, coming in at 24th place.

The country ranked 11th in happiness in 2012. The report states that the number of people eating alone in the United States has increased by 53 percent over the past two decades.

The UK also ranks 23rd in terms of happiness, which is the lowest level of happiness in the country since 2017.

Afghanistan has again been ranked as the most unhappy country in the world.

Sierra Leone in West Africa is the second unhappy country in the world, followed by Lebanon in third place.
