PNN – The US Treasury Secretary said that if the government shutdown is extended, the country may face difficulty paying salaries to military personnel until mid-November.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Anadolu Agency, US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant says that if the federal government shutdown continues, the country will not be able to pay the salaries of military personnel until mid-November.

Besant said: We were able to pay military personnel salaries from the Pentagon’s surplus budget in the middle of this month. I think we can do it in early November.

He added: But until November 15, the soldiers and personnel who are willing to risk their lives will not receive their salaries. It is truly shameful!

The US Department of War confirmed on Friday that the government will rely on a $130 million donation from an anonymous supporter of President Donald Trump to pay the salaries of military personnel.

Democratic senators on Thursday blocked a Republican-backed bill that would have provided pay for active-duty military personnel and other essential federal employees affected by the government shutdown.
