America must gain Iran’s trust; Iran’s missile power is not an issue.

The first round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Oman has attracted the attention of many Arab and Western experts and analysts, especially since Iran has come to these talks with the characteristics of power and, at the same time, will not back down from its principles.

Al-Akhbar newspaper published a report on this matter and wrote: America knows that unplanned pressures may lead to widespread tensions in the region, especially since Iran has the power to respond to any aggression. For this reason, we are witnessing a change in American tactics. Washington agreed to the indirect talks in the first stage.

This country is well-informed about the high costs of any war in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran also knows very well that it is facing the great devil; therefore, despite the distrust of the US government, it continues to try to maintain its regional position and strategic influence and Islamic system.

Iran seeks to improve its economic situation under the shadow of sanctions against this country. Tehran believes that the negotiations are an opportunity to improve international relations, but at the same time, it will not retreat from its revolutionary and ideological foundations. In Iran’s foreign policy, several strong characteristics and foundations have made the country a pivotal player in the negotiations. First is Iran’s geopolitical and strategic position, which significantly impacts its foreign policy directly and indirectly. Numerous and rich economic resources such as oil, gas, and other mineral wealth are considered vital and strategic resources in the global perspective.

In addition to these, non-material factors are influential in determining the shape of Iran’s political system and political relations. For example, despite international pressure, we witness Iran’s internal unity and network of regional allies that stand by the country against any aggression. Iran’s long experience in negotiations has made this country’s hands full in bargaining on various issues and separating various files from each other.

Iran’s presence at the negotiating table does not mean that the country is abandoning its peaceful nuclear or missile programs or its regional friends. Supporting the Palestinian cause and the resistance movements in Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq is a fundamental part of its strategy. The United States knows full well that it must regain Tehran’s lost trust. Iran also emphasizes that its nuclear program is under negotiation, not its missile program, which is an internal matter related to its national security.
