PNN – In response to the new sanctions against Pakistan’s missile program, the deputy national security adviser of the United States considered Islamabad’s missile capability a threat to Washington.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, “John Feiner”, the deputy national security adviser of the United States, said that Pakistan is developing long-range ballistic missiles with which it can attack targets outside South Asia, including the United States.
Regarding the new US sanctions against Pakistan’s missile program, he said: Islamabad’s behavior has raised questions about the goals of this country’s ballistic missile program.
“Frankly, it’s hard for us to see Pakistan’s actions as anything other than an emerging threat to the United States,” Feiner said at a meeting at the Carnegie Endowment.

The US Deputy National Security Advisor added: “Pakistan has increasingly developed sophisticated missile technology; from long-range ballistic missile systems to equipment that enables the testing of much larger rocket engines.”
According to Feiner, if this trend continues, “Pakistan will have the ability to attack targets beyond South Asia, including in the United States.”
The US State Department announced on Wednesday that it will impose more sanctions on Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country said that four Pakistani entities involved in the proliferation or delivery of such weapons are the targets of new sanctions.
In response to this action, Pakistan described the new US sanctions as biased and emphasized that Pakistan’s missile capability is “for self-defense and stability in South Asia”.
In September, the US State Department imposed sanctions against five entities and one individual involved in financing Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.
