America: Since the beginning of the Biden administration, we have imposed 600 sanctions against Iran

PNN – Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, in line with Washington’s dual policy, claiming to support the Iranian people, announced that the United States of America has imposed more than 600 sanctions against Iran and Iranian institutions since the beginning of Joe Biden’s administration.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Matthew (Matt) Miller, the spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters on Wednesday local time, claiming to support the people of Iran: Since the beginning of this administration, we have imposed more than 600 sanctions against Iranians and Iranian institutions. Some of these sanctions are to support terrorism and other destabilizing actions, but some of them are to suppress the Iranian people.

A reporter about the US State Department’s report on international religious freedoms and accusing Iran in this report, as well as the International Day of Support for Torture Victims, about the human rights situation in Iran, as well as the further actions of the US in this regard, in addition to sanctioning the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The spokesperson of the US State Department responded by claiming to support the Iranian people and said: I completely agree with the opinion that the world should pay more attention to the human rights situation and oppression of the Iranian people. One of the actions we have taken since the beginning of this government has been to highlight the violation of the human rights of the Iranian people and suppress their freedom.

The US State Department official added: We have done this through bilateral communications at the global level, as well as through annual reports. We asked other countries to raise this issue both publicly and privately. We also ensured that the people of Iran have access to the necessary tools to bypass censorship, such as VPNs, so that they can access free news and information.

The spokesperson of the US State Department said: We have also imposed more than 600 sanctions against Iranians and Iranian institutions since the beginning of this administration. Some of these sanctions are to support terrorism and other destabilizing measures, but some of them are to suppress the Iranian people.

This American official continued: “We will continue to take actions against Iranian officials at the appropriate time.” We will also welcome the protest of other countries against the brutal repression of the Iranian people. We will continue to support the people of Iran.”

Miller’s statements are while the Ministry of Treasury of the Biden administration published a report on October 26, after reviewing the sanctions system, which, like its predecessors, considers sanctions as a tool to advance what it calls the national interests of the United States, and seeks to modernize it.

According to Reuters news agency, the US Department of Treasury published recommendations to improve the application of economic sanctions and turn them into a more effective tool in the country’s foreign policy.

On July 5, the US Treasury Department imposed new sanctions against 50 individuals and entities, claiming that they form several branches of a vast secret banking network, under the pretext of being associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Armed Forces.

The US Department of Treasury claimed: The US Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned nearly 50 entities and individuals that constitute numerous branches of the vast network of “secret banking / shadow banking network”. This network is supported by the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to illegally access the international financial system and transact billions of dollars since 2020. The Ministry of Defense and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are involved in revenue-generating commercial activities, especially the sale of Iranian oil and petrochemicals.

The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the United Nations said in response to these US sanctions: “This is part of the economic war that America has cruelly launched against the Iranian people. They attack and we defend accordingly. What determines the fate of this economic war is the power of will; Not the power to impose sanctions.”

The United States unilaterally and illegally withdrew from the JCPOA and imposed the most severe sanctions against Iran. By continuing these sanctions, the government of the current US Democratic President Joe Biden has imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran under various pretexts and in line with the dual approach of diplomacy and pressure.
