PNN – The commander of the United States military forces in the Middle East (CENTCOM) met with the commander of the country’s army during his trip to Pakistan and the two sides discussed the security situation in the region and bilateral military cooperation.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, General Michael Eric Korilla, the commander of Centcom, met with General Syed Asim Munir, the commander of the Pakistani army, at the head of a military delegation in the city of Rawalpindi.
In this regard, the statement of the Pakistan Army said: In this meeting, the parties discussed issues related to bilateral interests, the regional security situation, cooperation between the two armies of the US and Pakistan in the defense and military fields, especially the need to strengthen educational interactions.
Also, in this meeting, the efforts of the Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism and what has been mentioned in the aforementioned statement as significant contributions to regional peace and stability were discussed.
The trip of the Centcom commander to Pakistan is being carried out while the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also the spokesperson of the Pakistan Army recently dismissed the speculations about providing bases to foreign countries as baseless and emphasized: Pakistan does not provide any bases to the government or foreign forces.
Also, anti-terrorism talks between Pakistan and the United States have started in Washington since yesterday.
