American forces are leaving Hasakah and moving towards the Iraqi border.
According to Sputnik, local Syrian media reported that the US military is withdrawing its forces from a base in Al-Hasakah province.
According to the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan, US military vehicles loaded with military equipment are leaving a base in the city of Al-Shaddadi.
The newspaper also added that the vehicles are heading towards the Syrian-Iraqi border.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said last week that the US intends to reduce its military presence in Syria to less than 1,000 troops in the coming months and consolidate its number in fewer bases in the country.
The Pentagon previously announced, citing US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett, that, at his order, US forces in Syria will be concentrated in the form of a joint operational command called “Resolute Resolve”, a decision that the Pentagon called “a deliberate process based on an assessment of the situation.”
According to the US Department of Defense, American forces will remain in a position to carry out “precision strikes” against the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group.
