PNN – Dwight Evans, a Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, said that he opposes Donald Trump’s actions to escalate tensions against Iran and that he does not have the right to declare war.

The Pennsylvania representative wrote on social media on Friday morning: I strongly oppose Trump’s dangerous escalation of tensions against Iran. Congress has the right to declare war, not the president.

He added: I will support House Speaker Rohan Khanna’s initiative to bring a bipartisan war powers resolution to the House floor and contain Trump.

California Democratic Representative Ro Khanna and Republican Representative Thomas Massie of the US House of Representatives are planning to curb Trump’s warmongering behavior by drafting a war powers resolution and submitting it to a vote in the House.

Kentucky Representative Thomas Massey posted on social media: Congress must vote on war under our Constitution. Rohan Khanna and I will do that vote in the House of Representatives as soon as possible. I will vote “America First,” which means voting against more war in the Middle East.

In recent days, a significant number of American lawmakers have opposed Trump’s war-mongering policies against Iran and expressed deep concern about the domestic consequences of his adventures.
