The Washington Post newspaper, citing responsible sources, reported that the likelihood of holding a round of talks between the United States and Iran at the end of this week is decreasing.

The claim of this American media outlet comes as Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said on Tuesday in response to reporters’ questions about the next round of indirect Iran-US talks: Based on the consultations, the next round of indirect Iran-US talks is being planned for next Sunday in Muscat.

This comes as sources told CBS News that Steve Whitaker, Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East and the top US negotiator, still plans to meet with Iranian officials on Sunday for the sixth round of talks on the nuclear program.
