American newspaper: The Ukrainian army proved that it is not ready to resist the Russian forces

PNN – The American newspaper New York Times, describing the difficult situation of “tired Ukrainian soldiers” in the face of Russia’s advance towards Kharkiv, wrote that the Ukrainian army proved to be unprepared to resist the Russian forces due to the lack of sufficient resources.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the New York Times, referring to Russia’s advance towards Kharkiv, added: The Russian army “crushed the northern border of Ukraine with such speed and force” that the “insufficient fortifications” of Ukraine practically “did not create an obstacle”.

The newspaper added that some of the Ukrainian soldiers who were completely surprised retreated from their positions.

The New York Times asserted that Russia has a “greater advantage over Ukraine” in terms of artillery shells, and Ukraine’s depleted air defense resources have been unable to counter the Russian air force.

According to the report, Russia’s offensive has created problems for the Ukrainian war-weary soldiers. For example, some defensive fortifications were “insufficient” or “irregularly arranged”, and the Ukrainian command headquarters refused to send new troops from the reserves to this part of the battlefront, instead, some troops transferred from other areas to this area.

This American newspaper considered the limitation of “Ukrainian reserve forces to be sent to the region” as the reason for this and quoted Ukrainian army commanders who asked to remain anonymous and wrote: The situation in the Kharkiv region is critical for the Ukrainian army.

TASS news agency reported in this context: Kyiv understands that the situation in the Kharkiv region is extremely critical for Ukrainian soldiers.

On May 14, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army announced in a report that Kiev forces had been forced to move “to more favorable positions” near the Volchansk and Lukyantsi regions. The military command of Ukraine also announced the transfer of additional reserves to this region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that he was forced to use forces from other regions to counter Russian attacks in Kharkiv. In a meeting with the Supreme Council of Commanders in Kharkiv on May 16, he confirmed that the situation in this region is extremely difficult.

At the same time, the statements of some Ukrainian soldiers about the lack of full readiness of military fortifications in the Kharkiv region have created a new scandal for the Kiev government. Ukrainian soldiers have linked this lack of preparation to the failure of the Ukrainian army in this area.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced on May 18 that the country’s forces have liberated the village of Staritsa in the Kharkiv region as a result of proactive measures and the continuation of advancing deep into the enemy’s defense line.
