American think tank: Houthis will retaliate and have proven their resilience

PNN – Researchers at the Atlantic Council think tank wrote in articles about the recent US attacks on Yemeni forces that, given the Houthis’ flexibility, there is a possibility of them retaliating against American forces, and that Washington should consider diplomatic measures and strengthening the air defenses of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in addition to military operations.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Emily Milliken, deputy director of media and communications in the Atlantic Council’s Middle East Program, wrote: While attacks on Houthi bases, leaders, and missile defenses may affect their ability to conduct operations in the short term, the Houthis have proven their resilience in the past, showing that they can still threaten the region after successive attacks by the Saudi-led coalition and, more recently, the US and UK.

The group will likely carry out a retaliatory attack in the Red Sea against the Truman aircraft carrier strike group or American bases in the region in the future to show the Yemenis, Tehran, and the international community that American operations have not stopped them.

The Houthis may also continue ground operations in the oil-rich Marib region, the last stronghold of the Ansarullah opposition, or carry out attacks on key Saudi infrastructure to put the Riyadh government in a vulnerable position ahead of possible peace talks.

In addition to increasing the defense capabilities of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which have been targets of Houthi aggression in the past, the United States should engage in diplomatic engagement with Russia and China, increase naval power to prevent the Houthis from resupplying, and apply effective pressure on Iran.

Referring to the need for the United States to significantly increase international coordination and military presence in the region, the researcher wrote: In the coming days and weeks, it will become clear to what extent the United States is serious about increasing its actions compared to the past. America’s seriousness will be demonstrated more by this level of commitment to Iran and the region than by Saturday’s attacks.

Last night, shortly after the start of the US military attacks on Yemen, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to his Russian counterpart on the phone to update him on the US military operations in Yemen and claimed that the continued attacks by Yemen’s Ansarullah on US commercial and military ships in the Red Sea would not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni Ministry of Health announced that the number of martyrs in the US attacks on the country has increased to 23. The bombing of residential areas in Yemen has also left 22 injured, most of whom are women and children.

The US President wrote on his social media account, Truth Social, on Saturday: Today I ordered the United States military to begin military action against Ansarullah in Yemen.

Donald Trump added: It has been more than a year since a U.S.-flagged commercial vessel safely passed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea or the Gulf of Aden. The last American warship to pass through the Red Sea was attacked more than a dozen times four months ago by the Houthis. The Houthis, with financial support from Iran, have fired missiles at American aircraft and targeted our forces and our allies.
