American university professor: We should be worried about Generation Z’s hatred of Israel.
The American researcher, by examining various social networks, said that Generation Z feels much more uncomfortable towards Israel than their fathers and mothers.
Juan P. Villasmil, an editorial board member at the Institute for Intercollegiate Studies in Wilmington, North Carolina, wrote that polls, hashtags, Instagram stories, and campus demonstrations show that post-millennials (Gen Z) have more negative opinions and feelings than to Israel compared older Americans.
Generation Z or Net Generation refers to people who were born between 1995 and 2010. From the very beginning of their childhood, when they opened their eyes to the world, they were able to see the progress of the Internet and other smart tools in the world, and that is why they are called the Net (Internet) generation or digital natives.
“Juan P. Villasmil wrote in a note on the Hill news website: “The TikTok platform, half of whose users are under the age of 30, is at the top with the hashtag “Freedom for Palestine” with 31 billion posts, while for “Support for Israel” There are only 590 million posts, which means that support for Palestine is more than 50 times more than support for Israel.”
According to Vilasmil, most of these short videos are posted by users who don’t know much about the conflict in Palestine and Gaza but are eager to learn.
The American university professor then tried to warn American families about the dangers of TikTok, writing: “It’s time for older Americans, who may still think of TikTok as a silly dance app, to consider it as a media source. See that it shapes their children’s view of the world. This is what some politicians have already realized and hence they want to ban it completely.
Juan P. Villasmiller emphasized: “Any program that convinces young Americans that they can suddenly be experts in history and politics in the Middle East should be taken seriously, regardless of what people think about it.”
He then tried to label pro-Palestinian youth as associated with far-left thinking, writing: “TikTok revealed something that had been brewing for years, namely the imperialist nature of American far-left thinking.”
Emphasizing the word “imperialist”, this American researcher called the thinking of supporting the Palestinians against Israel imperialistic and claimed that in connection with the history of the Middle East, social networks have taken away the power of thinking from young people, and we should be worried about “one-sided view” and “along with The “hatred” of generation Z was towards the issue of Palestine.
On the other hand, Noam Chomsky, philosopher, cognitive science scientist and American political activist, in a recent interview with the Iranian media “Madrasa Azad”, referring to the unreserved support of the American government to Israel, said that this approach of supporting Israel is possible. It will be completely different in the future.
He said: “With the change that has occurred between the young generation, students and Generation Z, today the American people’s support for Israel has decreased and is in favor of the Palestinians.” The situation of this double is 50-50. Take a look at the partisan support of the Democrats, today they defend the Palestinians more than Israel. Whereas in the past, most of Israel’s support body was by liberal democrats. This is a big change, that is, the whole policy of America towards the Middle East is changing.”
