Americans’ dissatisfaction with Elon Musk’s performance/Trump’s popularity declines among Latinos

PNN – A new poll shows Americans are increasingly dissatisfied with Elon Musk’s role in the White House. Polls also show Donald Trump’s support base among Latinos is declining.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the American website Politico wrote: Musk is seeking to cut federal spending, but polls show that 57 percent of Americans disapprove of his performance. A Washington Post/ABC News poll found that only 35 percent of Americans approve of Musk’s handling of the federal government’s efficiency department.

The survey indicates growing anger among Americans over Musk’s performance in the Donald Trump administration, which claims to be fighting corruption, waste, and abuse of the federal government by cutting government spending.

Last February, 49 percent of Americans were dissatisfied with the effectiveness of masks, and the new poll shows little change among those who approve of their effectiveness. Musk’s popularity remains lower than Trump’s, according to a recent poll. He has only 39 percent approval, and 55 percent of Americans consider him unpopular.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly issued a statement defending Musk, claiming that “Trump and his administration are following the American people’s orders to reduce waste and make federal agencies more efficient, including laying off non-mission-critical probation employees.”

Politico wrote: The results reflect American sentiment toward the sweeping federal spending cuts that the Trump administration hopes to bring about, even as Musk announced he would leave the Department of Government Efficiency to devote more time to his electric car company, Tesla.

A recent poll found that nearly 60 percent of Americans said Trump had gone too far in his efforts to shrink the federal government through layoffs.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll of 2,464 American adults was conducted between April 18 and 22, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

Trump rejected by Latino voters

Another poll conducted by Ipsos and Reuters showed that Trump’s popularity among Hispanic voters in the United States had fallen to 34%.

The poll marks a 3-point decline from a January survey of Latinos, when 37 percent of Hispanics in the United States said they considered Trump a popular president.

Meanwhile, disapproval of Trump among Hispanic voters has increased by 7 percentage points since the April poll, from 54% to 61%.

A new poll shows that overall, 42 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s performance as president of the United States, but a majority (53 percent) disapprove of him.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll of 4,306 American adults was conducted between April 16 and 21 with a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points.

The results of the poll are consistent with a CNN poll conducted on the eve of Trump’s second 100th day in office. The latest CNN poll showed Trump’s overall approval rating at 41 percent, down 4 percentage points from a March poll. Trump’s approval rating fell from 35 percent in March to 28 percent in April.

Latino voters would constitute an important group of voters for the US presidency in the 2024 election. Although the majority of them voted for former US Vice President Kamala Harris, support for the Republican candidate (Trump) in this election increased by 14% compared to 2020. Many point out that the rise in Hispanic support for Trump played a significant role in his victory in the 2024 presidential election.
