Americans evaluated Biden’s management in “economy” and “immigration” as weak

PNN – The results of a new survey showed that American voters consider Joe Biden’s performance to be weak on the two issues of economy and immigration, and prefer the administration of Donald Trump, the possible Republican candidate, in these two areas.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the USA Today website wrote: In a joint poll of this American newspaper and Suffolk University, which was conducted after the Biden-Trump debate, most eligible voters in the United States said that Trump would do better than Biden on the two main issues of the 2024 election campaigns around the economy and immigration.

This exclusive poll also showed that American voters see Trump as more competent in handling issues related to national security and dealing with China. However, Biden scored higher on only two of the six main issues of the survey, which included the management of “race relations” and “health care”.

But what seemed to pose more of a challenge for Biden was that 51 percent of voters said they approved of Trump’s performance during his presidency between 2017 and 2021, and only 41 percent approved of Biden’s current performance.

The poll’s findings fuel concerns about the current crisis in Biden’s campaign. This crisis has emerged at the same time as Biden’s support in the polls has decreased and the 81-year-old US president has been asked to step down following his poor performance in the election debate 10 days ago.

The latest poll of 1,000 eligible voters between June 28 and 30, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, showed the 78-year-old Trump ahead of Biden by a three-point margin of 41 percent to 38 percent.

Almost 60 percent of Americans believe that Trump is someone who “can get things done,” but only 44 percent had the same opinion about Biden. Meanwhile, according to them, Biden was more successful in passing laws in a divided Congress regarding climate issues, domestic production and infrastructure costs. Trump made promises on such issues but failed to deliver during his four years in office.

Based on these results, the two issues of “economy” and “inflation” are the most important concerns of 35% of voters, followed by “threats against democracy”, which was the concern of 21% of American voters. Immigration was a worrisome issue for 19% of voters, the issue of abortion for 9%, and the presence of a “balanced Supreme Court” in the country was a worrisome issue for 7% of voters.

Despite the prosperity of the labor market, the reduction of unemployment and the favorable state of the stock market in the Biden administration, Americans believed by a margin of 54 to 40 that Trump’s economic performance in managing the economy would be better than that of Biden.

Voters also had more confidence in Trump’s handling of the immigration issue by a margin of 53 to 40. In the field of national security, 52% voted for Trump and 42% for Biden.

In this poll, the participants were not asked which candidate they think is better equipped to support democracy; An issue that Biden’s campaign has placed at the center of the president’s re-election efforts.

This poll also showed that 41% of Democrats said they were looking for an alternative candidate for Biden.

Only 14% of Republicans and 12% of Trump supporters said the Republican Party should find an alternative to Trump as the party’s nominee.

However, many Democrats and independent voters opposed to Trump said they were happy to support Biden.

Americans will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 to elect the next president of the United States. The winner of this election will start the four-year presidential term from January 2025.
