According to the statement, Austin expressed his “deep concern about the reports surrounding the attack on the Lebanese Armed Forces,” referring to Sunday’s attack by the Israeli army on a Lebanese army truck that killed three people.
Austin stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL [United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon].
The US Secretary of Defense also told Gallant that the Zionist regime should take all necessary measures to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
