America’s old University of Vermont joins the uprising in support of Gaza.

According to the Palestine Information Center, the University of Vermont, one of the oldest universities in America, joined the student uprising in support of Gaza.

It has been said that the protests in this university started yesterday with the students setting up tents and sitting in the main campus to declare their support for the Palestinian people.

Also, another number of American students joined the rally in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine at New York University and demanded an end to the war in Gaza.

At the same time, a demonstration of solidarity with Gaza was reported in Jackson Square in New Orleans, and it was said that the police arrested some of the demonstrators.

Yesterday, the students of Harvard University in the USA raised the Palestinian flag for one hour in protest of the Zionist regime’s genocide in the Gaza Strip and the suspension of Washington’s aid to Tel Aviv, as well as as a sign of solidarity with the people of Gaza.

According to Al-Alam, the president of Harvard University had previously threatened the students that if the protests continue, he will refer them to the disciplinary committee.

However, regardless of this threat, the protesting students raised the Palestinian flag right above the “John Harvard” statue.

Student organizations in the Gaza Strip praised the spontaneous rise of pro-Palestinian student associations in dozens of universities across the United States, describing their rise as history-making.

Yesterday, the American newspaper Washington Post also wrote in a report that our statistics indicate that at least 900 demonstrators have been arrested in protests at American universities in the last 10 days.

In this report, it is also added that the scope of student protests has expanded to 79 universities in the United States.

While more than 200 days have passed since the beginning of the crimes of the Zionist regime with more than 34 thousand martyrs, the American students have taken a serious step towards realizing peace and ending the genocide in the Gaza Strip. These days, the wave of protests in the West, especially in American universities, has become the headlines of the world media.

In recent days, a large number of universities in America have seen anti-Zionist demonstrations, the most important of which are Harvard, New York, Yale, Columbia, Massachusetts, Emory, Michigan, Brown, Humboldt Polytechnic, Berkeley, Southern California, Texas, Minnesota, etc. .

Of course, from the very beginning of the movement, the kind of treatment of the American police, who always resort to violence and repression at these times, could be predicted. As expected, many protesting students have been expelled in these few days. In addition, violence and beatings have always been the spice of police dealings with students of this country.

In sum, the police attack on students and their arrest in different American universities has caused many influential international personalities and organizations to challenge the freedom of speech in this claimant country. Like Amnesty International, which while condemning this violent behavior, emphasized the importance of the “right to protest” and said in a statement: We ask American universities to support the rights of students in peaceful and safe demonstrations.

Unprecedented demonstrations of students in American universities in condemning mass killings against Palestinians are a reminder of the same spectrum’s opposition to the Vietnam War.

Among their common features is the common origin of these protest movements. The student protest against the American financial and military aid to the Zionist regime in the war against Gaza started about two weeks ago from Columbia University; A university that in the 1960s was the initiator of the wave of protest against the American war in Vietnam.
