America’s reaction to limiting arms sales to Israel by England

PNN – The spokesperson of the US Department of State, in response to the restriction of arms sales to Israel by the UK, said that this decision was made by the UK based on its assessment and laws.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Matthew (Matt) Miller, the spokesman of the United States Department of State, told reporters on Tuesday local time that the new British Labor government has informed the United States in advance about restricting some weapons to Israel.

The spokesperson of the US State Department clarified: This is a decision that the UK has made based on its own assessment and rules.

Miller continued: We have our own assessments of possible violations of humanitarian law, and the investigation into these assessments continues.

British Foreign Minister David Lemmy announced on Monday in a special session of the British House of Commons: It suspends about 30 out of 350 arms sales licenses to Israel over concerns that they could be used for serious violations of international human rights.

He added: Based on the assessments made over the past two months, the government has no choice but to suspend these permits because they “can be used to facilitate serious violations of international law.” The government’s new decision does not mean a complete embargo on arms exports to Israel and does not include the F-35 fighter jets and will not affect the security of Tel Aviv.

According to polls, most of the British people want an arms embargo on Israel and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The findings of the prestigious Yugao Institute show that 56% of people want the government to suspend all arms export licenses to Israel during the war in Gaza.

The former Prime Minister of England claimed that this country has the most accurate arms export system in the world and takes its responsibility in this field seriously. In the last parliamentary session before the summer recess, Rishi Sunak claimed that the government “constantly evaluates Israel’s adherence to international humanitarian law, and our position has not changed since the last review.”

The new assessment of the Labor Party, which took over the government two months ago, is different and believes that the export of “offensive” weapons to Israel should be reduced.
