PNN – The spokesperson of the US State Department reacted to Pakistan’s attempt to get an exemption from gas sanctions against Iran in order to complete the gas pipeline project with Tehran.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, a journalist asked Matthew (Matt) Miller, the spokesperson of the US State Department, at a press conference on Tuesday local time, that Pakistan was looking to complete the gas pipeline project with Iran, but the US warned not to do this project. Considering Pakistan’s energy needs, Islamabad has sought exemption from Iran’s gas sanctions. What is your opinion about this?
Miller replied: We continue to implement sanctions against Iran. We have warned those who want to enter into a deal with Iran about the consequences of this action.
At the same time, the spokesperson of the US State Department said: Meanwhile, helping Pakistan to solve the energy shortage is a priority for the US government, and we will continue to help the Pakistani government to solve this shortage.

In response to the legal consequences of the country’s delay in advancing the joint gas project with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mumtaz Zahra, recently announced that Islamabad is in contact with Tehran in this regard.
Pakistani news sources recently claimed that Tehran informed Islamabad of its decision to refer to the International Court of Arbitration regarding the joint gas project with Pakistan.
Another reporter at the meeting of the spokesperson of the United States Department of State claimed: UN experts have warned about the increase in executions in Iran. There has been a significant increase in executions in August compared to the previous month. This reporter asked Miller: Is America worried about this process?
The spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that we are still concerned about the number of executions in Iran and the process of carrying out these sentences.
Miller claimed: These executions are carried out during an unfair, non-transparent and non-independent judicial process. These executions are part of human rights violations in Iran, and for this reason we continue our sanctions against Iran to make it accountable.
