An American soldier was arrested in Russia on the charge of “theft”.
According to Reuters, the Russian media reported that an American soldier who was detained in Russia on charges of criminal misconduct was arrested on charges of theft by the order of the Vladivostok District Court of Russia.
The website of the Russian newspaper “Ryanovsti” quoted the press office of the court as saying that the name of this American soldier is “Gordon Black” and he will be detained until July 2nd.
Speaking to RIA Novosti, the spokesperson of the court added: The Provomaysky District Court in Vladivostok arrested Gordon Black, a Ukrainian soldier, under the title of theft (according to the Russian Criminal Code).
The US Army, which said that Russia had notified the arrest of this soldier on Monday, did not officially announce his name.
An American official, who did not want to be named, said: This American soldier is serving at the American military base in South Korea. An American official also added that this soldier is accused of stealing from a Russian woman.
The Russian newspaper Izvestia also quoted an anonymous source as saying that the US Army sergeant stationed in South Korea met a woman from the port of Vladivostok in eastern Russia online and then they met.
The office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Vladivostok announced that the detention of the American military in this city has nothing to do with espionage or political issues.
