An unknown person attacked the American consulate in Sydney

PNN – The Australian police announced that an unknown person attacked the American consulate in Sydney and painted a mural on its building; It seems that this action was taken in support of Palestine.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Reuters news agency, the Australian police announced on Monday that 9 windows of the American consulate were damaged and graffiti was also painted on the door of the building.

A police spokesman told Reuters that CCTV footage showed a man wearing a black hoodie, his face obscured, and holding what looked like a small sledgehammer.

A spokeswoman for the US consulate confirmed the building was damaged but said staff were not injured and work was not affected.

Pictures of the American consulate on the website of the Sydney Morning Herald show inverted red triangles painted on the glass facade of the building. This symbol is said to be used by some pro-Palestinian activists.

The same building was graffitied in April, the Sydney Morning Herald reported, while a similar incident happened to the US consulate in Melbourne in May.

Last month, in protest of the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, sit-ins were formed by setting up tents in the universities of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and other Australian cities, and the protesters emphasized that the Australian government did not do enough to create peace.

In response to the action taken against the American consulate in Sydney, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said: People should have a respectful political debate. Actions such as painting on the (building) of the American consulate do nothing to advance the goals of those who have committed a crime by damaging property.
