Steven Cook believes that the “new Saudis” have been behaving like the old Saudis about Palestine since the start of the war in Gaza three weeks ago.
He wrote in an article in the Foreign Policy magazine: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with world football star Cristiano Ronaldo on October 23, at the same time that Qatar and Egypt took steps to free two Israeli women.
While Qatar and Egypt were trying to mediate, bin Salman discussed the future of computer games with Ronaldo, Cook believes, indicating that when it comes to foreign policy and crisis management, the Saudis are look useful and neutral.
Regarding the Saudis’ position regarding the Zionist regime’s war against Gaza, he said: The Saudis are in trouble; they are still attached to the American for security, which facilitates Israel’s destructive attack on the Gaza Strip, and Washington helps Tel Aviv in this regard.
