Anti-Iranian atmosphere of the British media on the anniversary of the riots

Pak Sahafat – On Saturday, under the pretext of the one year anniversary of Mehsa Amini’s death, the British media, along with the opposition networks based in this country, created anti-Iranian atmosphere and published targeted and provocative reports in support of last year’s riots.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, this morning Sky News television channel echoed the rumor of the arrest of the father of the late Mahsa Sekheti, and an hour later, its host claimed: “Iranian security forces released him who was arrested on the anniversary of his daughter’s death.” This network also made this claim during an interview with an anti-Iranian activist: “The family members of those who were killed in last year’s ‘protests’ are constantly arrested and harassed.”

Sky News also published a report on its website and repeated the claims of human rights and interference in Iran’s internal affairs and claimed: “Protesters in Iran and those who were forced to flee, one year after the uprising caused by the killing of Mahsa Amini, are struggling with government pressure.”

In a provocative report, ITV claimed that world governments should take more measures to hold Iran accountable. In this targeted report written with anti-Iranian political motives, the members of the Human Rights Council are asked to extend the mission of the so-called fact-finding committee, which ends in March next year.

English newspapers, including the Guardian, the Independent and the Daily Telegraph, also covered the incident of the anniversary of the riots in an unconventional way. While echoing the rumor of the arrest of the late Amini’s father, the Guardian claimed in a report citing anonymous sources that the country’s security situation improved last year. Daily Telegraph also claimed the continuation of anti-government “protests” a year after the death of late Amini. The Independent also reported on Iran’s efforts to prevent the so-called “protest”.

But the BBC website claimed in a different tone that the social conditions of the country have changed as a result of last year’s events and that women have the necessary freedom. In this report, an attempt has been made to introduce non-Islamic culture as an established and normal thing in Iranian society.

In a statement on Friday, the British Foreign Ministry reiterated human rights claims and added that the country has imposed new sanctions against Iran in coordination with its other allies. In this statement, referring to the anniversary of last year’s riots, it is stated: Britain, America, Canada and Australia imposed coordinated sanctions against Iranian officials and institutions.

According to this statement, Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Hashemi, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Alireza Zakani, Mayor of Tehran, and Saeed Montazerul Mahdi, spokesman for Faraja, are among those added to the sanctions list.

In the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, referring to the series of sanctions against Iran in support of the disturbances, it is stated: Britain has completely sanctioned more than 350 Iranian officials and institutions, including the Attorney General and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley also reiterated London’s interventionist positions in Iran’s internal affairs, claiming that the new sanctions “send a clear message that Britain and our partners will continue to stand by Iranian women.”

This is while the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly warned about the consequences of the interventionist behavior of the West and stated that such actions will not go unanswered.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: Interference in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic will not go without a reaction, and Iran will not be influenced by political pressures that are being implemented in some areas with the aim of obtaining concessions from the Islamic Republic.
